Craving Ramen in Mumbai

Looking for a good Ramen House or "authentic" asian food in India is not that easy. Most of the time, there is that beautiful touch of masala in every dish that you will find here, may it be Cantonese Noodles or Chicken Kung Pao.

After several days of craving for that Tantanmen I had tasted in Ippudo, the search has begun and found The Fatty Bao. It's a gem hidden between the hustle and bustle of Andheri West.

The restaurant have beautiful interiors and you'll notice this the moment you set your foot in. Huge Japanese lanterns hanging in abundance, oversized native hand fans and asian themed wall papers are just few of the details.

We decided to sit on the tall tables which were adjusted immediately by the staff as there's 6 of us.

The selections on their food menu was really good consisting of Pan - Asian cuisine with Veg and Non-Veg options as well. I was so excited to try their infamous bottled cocktails but so unfortunate of me that it was a "DRY DAY". To commemorate Gandhi's Death, certain states in India prohibits the sale of alcohol. ☹️  Well, we decided to just indulge with the food and great time as me and my friends from different parts of the world rarely meet up anyway.

Food was real nice I must say. We ordered quite a lot if starters like Shrimp Tempura Roll, Tuna Tartare Sandwich (sushi but cut in a different way btw, the nori wrapper is too thick which makes it a bit chewy). We also tried some gyoza's, kimchi potatoes which actually needs that real kimchi kick, selection of boo's and winner of all appetizer for was the crab rangoon! That thin crispy crust and the perfect blend of the crab and cream cheese filling still makes my mouth water while writing this. Before serving anything on the table, they brought some sauces, and let me tell you that garlic chili is the best in everything!

Lastly, the reason why I searched for this place is because of Ramen. I ordered Tantanmen and decided to share half to my friends since I've been hogging on the starters. I found that the noodles can be more hard as I find it soggy and the marinated egg quite salty and didn't blend out with the rest of the soup, maybe it has been marinating for too long.. maybe. Well it didn't really disappoint
me as it is pretty decent but I think Ippudo had just raised the bar high.

Couldn't handle to have anymore desserts even though we wanted to but it was really a great evening. Satisfying evening with great food, service and amazing friends.

xoxo
